Case Study
CLIENT: BAE SYSTEMS
PROJECT: BOAT 2 AMBUSH - ASTUTE CLASS ATTACK SUBMARINE TYPE SSN FOR THE ROYAL NAVY
The Brief
To install a variety of cables, totalling 240k metres, on a high specification project over a 3 to 4 year period. Cable installation was to be completed on various modular build sections of the submarine prior to shipping into build sections. Cable installation within the confines of the assembled submarine was also required. The installation requested a high standard of management, planning and control to enable the work to be coordinated with other ongoing activities throughout the boat build.
The Solution
Using a small but experienced and dedicated team of operatives over a relatively long period of time, cables were planned and installed to the highest standards expected on a Royal Navy submarine. Liaison with all production teams in a timely manner would keep installation problems to a minimum and allow all cables to be installed to plan.
Client's Comments
"F B Taylor has provided a dedicated team of operatives from the onset. Planning and managing the workscope with a professional attitude on what can at times be a difficult ever changing project environment. F B Taylor were directly connected to one of BAE Systems Employee Bonus Objectives.
The milestone required that 75km of cable had to be installed by a specific date. The milestone was achieved 3 months early, which is testament to F B Taylor's management, planning and operatives skills. I have been particularly impressed with the can do attitude of the management and members of the on site team throughout the project, and would not hesitate in recommending F B Taylor for other projects."
